The Newfoundland and Labrador TourSeptember 2005We decided that for this trip, we would go someplace desolate, but still try to learn something. "What's more desolate than Canada?" we asked. (A lot of places, actually, but we didn't want to have to deal with terrible diseases or no sanitation or bombs, so that ruled out a whole bunch of places and kind of narrowed it down.) So we decided to go on an "Adventure" cruise on a small boat, that carried only 200 people total and going ashore usually meant jumping into a zodiac and racing at high speed to a beach (or collection of rocks) and scrambling off. We saw a lot of very remote places with a lot of very striking scenery and cool people.
